Bac Ninh City

Bac Ninh brings together the historic Kinh Bac heartland and the former Bac Giang territory in one large northern metropolis. Its southern core is dense with Quan ho villages, ancient Buddhist sites, Ly-dynasty memory and craft communities, while the north opens into Luc Ngan orchard country, Yen The resistance landscapes and the forests of Tay Yen Tu. At the same time, electronics, industrial parks, digital infrastructure and major transport investment make Bac Ninh one of Vietnam's most important manufacturing regions.

Getting thereBac Ninh is tightly connected to Hanoi by expressways and national roads and is close to Noi Bai International Airport. The Hanoi–Dong Dang railway crosses the municipality toward the China border. Gia Binh International Airport is under construction in 2026 and should not yet be treated as a fully operating passenger gateway.

Treat Bac Ninh as several travel clusters: southern Kinh Bac heritage and craft villages; the Bac Giang–Viet Yen urban-industrial belt; Tay Yen Tu–Son Dong mountain country; Luc Ngan orchard and lake landscapes; and Yen The–Hiep Hoa history. Private road transport is most useful outside the main urban corridors.

Potential advantages
  • Immediate integration with the Hanoi Capital Region and strong road access toward Lang Son, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh
  • One of Vietnam's largest contiguous electronics, high-tech and export-manufacturing platforms after the Bac Ninh–Bac Giang merger
  • A dense operating industrial-park network with deep supplier ecosystems, foreign-invested manufacturers and a very large technical workforce
  • A nationally leading digital-economy profile, with digital value added reported at 46.4% of GRDP in 2025
  • Gia Binh International Airport is creating a new aviation, logistics and urban-development corridor
  • The municipality is targeting regional and international logistics-transshipment functions by 2030
  • Luc Ngan provides a nationally important fruit economy with opportunities in cold chain, processing, e-commerce and agritourism
  • Quan ho, Dong Ho, ancient Buddhist sites, craft villages and Tay Yen Tu create a cultural economy unusually strong for an industrial metropolis
Due diligence
  • Rapid industrialisation creates major pressure on housing, schools, healthcare, transport, wastewater, air quality and services for workers and foreign specialists
  • Electronics concentration leaves the economy exposed to global technology cycles, trade policy and decisions by a relatively small number of large multinational manufacturers
  • Gia Binh International Airport remains under construction in 2026; airport-city and aviation-economy assumptions should distinguish current construction from future operating capacity
  • Industrial growth must protect Cau, Thuong and Duong river water quality and avoid uncontrolled conversion of agricultural and heritage landscapes
  • Luc Ngan and other orchard areas face weather, disease, price, market-access and cold-chain risks
  • Mountain tourism around Tay Yen Tu, Khe Ro and Son Dong should remain conservation-led and avoid overbuilding fragile landscapes
  • Quan ho, Dong Ho and craft villages require community-based safeguarding so tourism and commercialisation do not hollow out the living traditions they depend on
  • The southern industrial metropolis and northern rural-mountain territory have very different infrastructure and development needs; citywide averages can obscure those differences
