Van Chay Beach belongs to the Cô Tô–Thanh Lân outer-island world, where beaches, rocky shores, fishing settlements, seasonal weather and maritime access define the experience. Quảng Ninh tourism sources consistently identify Vàn Chảy as one of Cô Tô's principal beaches, while provincial English-language tourism material describes it as a must-visit beach and highlights its sunset scenery. Its exposed western position gives the beach a more dynamic surf character than sheltered Hong Van. It is therefore best understood as Cô Tô's broad open-sea beach: visually dramatic, good for swimming when conditions allow, strong for sunset, and highly dependent on current wind, wave and ferry conditions.
